Photography shoots and coronavirus (COVID-19)

Posted on: 11 May 2020

Following the recent update to the government guidelines it looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel for us all to get back to some semblance of 'normality'.

Many events will have happened during the lockdown - birthdays, anniversaries, births - and you may now be thinking about having or gifting a photo shoot to celebrate the fact, but are not sure about the practicalities.

Here is the current situation for my photography shoots:

Web & Commercial photography can now go ahead where social distancing can be maintained. For product photography where this cannot be accommodated at your location I do offer a 'collect and return' service where I can photograph your items at my home. In this instance strict hygiene measures will be taken to ensure the items will not be contaminated (minimal handling, wearing gloves, disinfecting the photography surface etc).

Outdoor portrait and pet portrait shoots: These sessions are now permissible where they can be carried out in public areas, such as parks, where myself and my subject (and their pet) can remain at least 2m apart. I don't need to be within 2m of my subjects so distancing and hygiene guidelines can be adhered to.

Outdoor children & families shoots: These will be the next photography sessions that can go ahead once restrictions have been lifted to allow me to meet small groups of people outside my household as long as social distancing can be maintained. This will allow for photography shoots to be carried out in areas such as gardens, parks or other open areas as long as the subjects being photographed are all from the same household. Again, I don't need to be within 2m of my subjects so distancing and hygiene guidelines can be adhered to.

Indoor portrait, children & families, newborn & babies and pet portrait photo shoots cannot go ahead until you are allowed to welcome visitors back into your households; however when they are I will carry out all necessary hygiene precautions such as washing hands, not touching surfaces within the home, wearing a face mask and leaving the posing of newborns and babies to the parents (with guidance). Where possible the 2m social distancing advice will also be adhered to.

Event photography: this will be possible once there are permitted events to photograph!

Something to look forward to!

Photography sessions won't be on many people's 'To Do' list right now, but when this is over (and it will be) celebrations and events will resume along with the desire to have photographs that capture the moment.

My Photography Gift Vouchers will give you (or someone you love) something fun to look forward to without the need to spend any money 'up front'.

You can read all about them and create yours on my Gift Vouchers page.

Hopefully we will all be able to visit our extended family and friends again sooner rather than later, but until then stay safe and I look forward to the chance of meeting you in person!
